Whitewater notes game one, live notes from game two

After being unable to find a place to play in Omaha, Neb. because of field and weather conditions the Warhawks found a last minute game in St. Louis against Washington University.
  • Finding the game may have been the most difficult part, as the Warhawks absolutely rolled through Washington for an 11-1 victory.
  • Seniors Dan Putnam and Rob Coe had huge games for the Warhawks. Coe went 3-5 with a 2B, HR, one SB, four RBI and three runs scored. Putnam was 3-4 with a walk, three runs scored and one SB.
  • Jeff Donovan and Andrew Eichstaedt each had two hit games for the Warhawks
  • Riley Tincher went five innings to pick up the win on the hill.
The game story is available on the UWW site here or at a blog for Whitewater baseball here

Game 2 Notes
  • Dan Putnam has four hits through five innings of play. If I recall correctly, Putnam started out on a torrid hitting pace last year too.
  • Rob Coe has two more RBI's through four innings of play
  • Jeff Donovan is struggling on the mound surrendering lots of base runners. He is working out of jams and getting double plays when needed.
  • Final line for Donovan 5 2/3, 6 runs, 5 earned runs, 4 K's, 4 BB's, 7 hits allowed
  • Not Donovan's best performance on the mound, Warhawks will need a lot more out of him if he is indeed the two starter.
  • Matt Meisenheimer broke the game open with a three-run bomb in the fifth.
  • Meisenheimer collects his third hit of the game
  • Putnam adds his fifth hit of the game, incredibly hot start continues. Now 8-9 on the year
  • Rob Coe collect 2 more RBI now up to 4 on the game, 8 for the two game series.
  • Whitewater has scored in every inning except the second...now lead 15-6 after 7.
  • Putnam comes out of the game with 5 hits, a walk, 2 stolen bags, three runs and a double.

  1. You called Rob Coe, Doug Coe in the first part of he recap. I watched Doug a lot when he played for the Express. They are brothers right?
