UW-Parkside Games Notes

Jack Olson
  • The Rangers are looking for their first win of the against St. Cloud State in Evansville, Indiana.
  • Jack Olson on the hill for Parkside, Logan Birr for SCSU.
  • After an error in the first, Olson gets 2-3-4 hitters in order. 
  • Parkside can only manage a walk by Mike Anderson as they strand him at second base. 
  • Score at end of first is 0-0

  •  Olson holds St. Cloud scoreless again in the second. Lead off single is erased by Alex Zarek throwing out runner trying to extend it to a double. 
  • Zarek gets Parkside's first hit of the day but is stranded on first, still 0-0 after 2.
  •  One walk for Olson and a balk but still holding SCSU scoreless, heading into the bottom of the third scoreless
  • Parkside goes down 1, 2, 3 in the third.
  • Olson gets out of a jam with a 1-6-3 double play. Runners were on first and second.
  • Corey Stonelake led off the inning with a base hit for the Rangers but a double play ball and a strikeout follow and the game remains scoreless after 4.
  • Olson gives up a lead off hit. Runner advances to second on a sac-bunt, to third on a ground out, but Olson is able to strand him on third with a ground out to SS Taylor Schwarz.
  • Jack Olson is through six innings scoreless, has allowed just four hits. Hasn't struck anybody out yet but defense is strong behind him.
  • Parkside still cannot get anything going. Mike Anderson picks up another hit but is picked off. Otherwise nothing going. 0-0 through six.
  • Olson runs into trouble in the 7th. Leadoff single then gets batter to 0-2 count and walks him. 
  • Imholte lays down a perfect bunt and the bases are loaded with nobody out, score tied 0-0 in the top of the 7th.
  • Sac Fly advances all the runners, 1-0 SCSU. 
  • Grounder to third and Korman makes a heads up play to get the runner who broke for the plate. Two down.
  • Taylor Schwarz saves a run as SCSU tries the double-steal. Schwarz cut the throw from catcher to second basemen off and delivered a strike back to the plate.
  • SCSU jumps out to a 1-0 lead through 7 1/2. Damage could have been much worse.
  • Six pitches and two strikeouts for SCSU's Birr but Taylor Schwarz hits a double to try and start a two out rally
  • Catcher Kirk Haviland singles up the middle to tie the game at 1!!
  • Alex Zarek grounds out to end the inning, but Parkside ties it at 1 heading to the 8th.
  • Olson still going for Parkside into the 8th.
  • Two easy outs for Olsen then Althoff rips a single for SCSU and thats the end of Olson.
  • Will have final line shortly.
  • Adam Becht in for Parkside 
  • Becht gives up a single and throws the ball away on a pickoff attempt to give St. Cloud a 2-1 lead heading to the bottom of the 8th.
  • Birr still in the game for St. Cloud. SCSU uses three pitchers to get three outs in the bottom of the 8th. To the 9th we go, SCSU 2 UWP 1.
  • Becht is getting nickled and dimed in the top of the 9th. One in, one on, one out 3-1 St. Cloud 
  • Olsen's FINAL LINE 7.2 IP 6 hits 2 runs 1 earned 5 walks, 0 strikeouts.
  • Becht works out of a jam to keep the deficit two. LAST CHANCE FOR PARKSIDE!
  • Tough loss for Parkside as they fall 3-1. Strong performance by Olson is wasted
