Florida Updates

Congratulations to Northland College head coach Stein Rear who earned his first two wins with the team against Hiram University. The Lumberjacks won the opener 9-8 before cruising to a 20-7 victory in game two.

Bradon Bodart finished the day 4-5 with five RBI and Dan Salewski would go 3-3 with five RBI. More updates are availabe on the Northland victories here.

The Lumberjacks got swept by Siena Heights 13-3 and 7-1 on Tuesday to fall to 2-3 on the season.

The Beloit College Buccaneers have split a pair of games since their opening day split. On Monday, the Bucs lost on the rarest of calls... a WALK OF BALK. The balk forced home the Bethany Lutheran runner for a 4-3 victory.

From Beloit's website, "The Vikings got the leadoff man on with a single to open the bottom of the ninth.  The second batter reached on an error and then both were advanced to second and third with a sacrifice bunt.  The Bucs intentionally walked the next batter to load the bases.  Before the following batter saw his first pitch a balk was called by the home plate umpire, forcing in the game-winning run."

Definitely a tough way to lose but the Bucs were able to bounce back the next day for a 6-5 win over Gwynedd Mercy College. Jake Tresemer has been starring for the Beloit offense with three consecutive three hit games.

Many teams are going to be kicking off action in the coming days including; Edgewood, Ripon, Concordia, Platteville and more. Stay tuned as we get ridiculously busy here. Hope you enjoy.
