Edgewood College baseball season opens with trip to Tennessee, Florida

Defending Northern Athletics Conference baseball champion Edgewood College throws out the first pitch on the 2011 season on Thursday at NCAA Division II member Christian Brothers University.

The Eagles will continue on to Florida for eight games at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational.Christian Brothers will provide live stats of Thursday’s season opener.

The link will be available on EdgewoodCollegeEagles.com. Edgewood College will videocast and provide live stats for all home baseball games except April 16.


Edgewood College is 1-1 all-time against Christian Brothers having won 8-4 in 2004, but losing to the Bucs 7-4 in 2007. The Eagles are 3-13 all-time against Ripon College, but split a doubleheader in their last meeting in 2007.

Edgewood College has won all four games over Greenville, including a sweep in Florida in 2009. The Eagles and St. Norbert split a doubleheader in 2009, the only games played in their histories. Edgewood College and St. Olaf played twice in Florida last season, splitting two games.

The Eagles are 1-1 all-time against Ramapo College.
