UWM gets swept at 16th ranked Arkansas

The Milwaukee Panthers put up valiant efforts against the 16th ranked Arkansas Razorbacks over the weekend, but could not come up with any victories in the three game series.

The host Razorbacks won 15-6 in game one, 13-9 in game two and 7-3 in the series finale to sweet the three game series.

Despite the losses, senior Doug Dekoning had a huge weekend going 7-13 for the series for a .538 batting average. The centerfielder had a career day in the first game of the series hitting two home runs, driving in five RBI, and scoring two runs.

In game two, Dekoning went 2-5 with a run scored and wrapped up his series going 3-3 with a run, stolen base and a HBP. He is now hitting .471 for the season with a .526 OBP and .706 SLG%.

The Panthers' offense matched up pretty evenly with the Razorbacks offense outhitting the host in game three and having 12 hits each in game two, but again the Panthers pitching staff did not get the job done.

Chad Pierce had the best performance of the weekend going 6 2/3 and giving up four earned runs. The other starters, Jordan Guth and Eric Semmelhack struggled mightily and neither made it passed the fourth inning.

Offensive Highlights
Jonathan Capasso - 3-4, 2 Runs, 1 RBI, HBP in Game 2
Tell Taylor - 2-4, 2B, RBI in Game 1
Chad Pierce - 2-4, Run in Game 1, 2-5 with 2 runs, 2 RBI in Game 2
Nick Lingvay - 2-5, Run in Game 1
Sam Koenig - 2-5, 2B, 1 Run in Game 3

Other Notes
Scott Doffek was ejected in the third inning of game two.

The Panthers will return to action on Thursday in San Jose, California with a match-up against San Jose State.
