Edgewood College will learn from Twins in exhibition game

The Edgewood College baseball team will get an opportunity to measure themselves on a professional level. The Eagles will play an exhibition game against a selection of minor league prospects from the Minnesota Twins organization. The Eagles and Twins will play on Wednesday, March 16 at the Twins spring training facility in Fort Myers, Florida.

More so than the game, head coach Al Brisack feels that the experience of visiting a major league training camp and watching professional players workout is the real value of the day.

“To watch major leaguers and minor leaguers dedicate themselves to the same drills we do and do it with such focus and intensity reinforces to our guys the importance of practice and attention to detail,” said Brisack. “In the past the Twins’ coaches have even allowed our guys to work side-by-side with their players. We certainly appreciate the Twins opening their doors to give our team this opportunity.”

The Eagles have visited the Twins at spring training in past years and in 2008 played an exhibition game with a New York Mets minor league team. Edgewood College begins their eight game Florida trip on Sunday with a doubleheader against Ripon College.
