Tuesday Round Up

Lakeland 5, Minnesota-Morris 0 : Muskies improve to 3-1. W: Chitwood (1-0) L: Johnson (0-1)

Chris Boettcher and Andy Chitwood led the Muskies to the shut out victory. Chitwood pitched seven scoreless innings, allowing five hits, two walks, and recorded four strikeouts. Boetcher went 2-4 at the dish and also scored three runs.

Game 1:Wisconsin Lutheran 4 Milikin 0 Game 2: WLC 6 Milikin 2 
The Warriors picked up a two game sweep to improve to 3-1 on the season behind the strong pitching efforts of freshman Alex Raver and sophomore Josh Smith.

Raver went the distance striking out 13 Milikin hitters and allowing just three hits in the shut out effort. Smith fanned five batters while limiting Milikin to two runs on only eight hits in also pitching a complete game.

Ethan Geis was the only WLC hitter with multiple hits in game one. Tyler Schoen and Doug Martin  provided two hits each in game two.


No. 9 Christopher Newport 9 Platteville 4
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville baseball team saw its losing streak stretch to three games when they dropped a 9-4 decision to host No. 9 Christopher Newport on Tuesday.

The Pioneers (0-3) held a 4-2 lead before the host Captains came back with seven unanswered runs in the bottom of the eighth for the come-from-behind victory.

Despite the loss, UW-Platteville was led by Aaron Hopson and Trevor Kattre, who each had three hits to pace an 11-hit effort. Hopson also had two RBIs in the defeat. Pioneers’ starter Trevor Hall fanned six in 5 2/3 innings of work but had to settle for a no decision.

William-Paterson 5 Concordia 1
The Falcons fell to 3-4 on the trip as they could not get any timely hits. The team did have eight hits for the game but could only manage one run.

Cory Stark, Ryan Baglow and Matt Mayer held a good William-Patterson offense to only five runs, but the lack of run was killer.

Ripon continued to struggle in Florida dropping both games on the day to fall to 0-6 on the season.

Dave McFarland and Taylor Koth had two hits each in game one for the Red Hawks.


In game two McFarland, John Hendrickson and Nick Beaman all produced three hit performances. 

Game 1: La Crosse13 St. John's3 Game 2: St John's 4 La Crosse 3 
Bryant Rude picked up the winfor La Crosse going the distance and striking out 13 hitters. All three runs for St. John's were scoredi n the final inning.

Cole Cefalu had three hits and three RBI in the game while Corey Geary also had three hits. In game two, Geary again shined going 2-4, but it wasn't enough for the Eagles who are now 3-2 on the year.

The WolfPack struggled against one of the top ranked JUCO teams in the country as they dropped to 2-3 on the season.


The Red Men banged out 16 hits including three each by Mike Petti, Kyle Pusateri and Matt Soderlund to beat Montclair State 7-4.

Eric Rohe pitched into the ninth inning where he wore down and gave up a couple of runs, but his performance was still spectacular.

The Green Knights split a double header with Husson University to move to 2-4 on the season.

Drew Tangney went 6 1/3 innings in his collegiate debut, allowing four hits and striking out five to earn the win in game two.

Jordan Powers was 2-for-2 with three runs scored, two walks and two stolen bases. Garrick Fisher was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Chris Hillesheim was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

The first game was not pretty for SNC as they fell 9-3.

Game 1: Franklin and Marshall 13 Lawrence 0  Game 2: Franklin and Marshall 5 Lawrence 4
Lawrence dropped both ends of their season opening doubleheader on Tuesday to start the season 0-2.

The team struggled in game one and got blown out, which has been a pretty common them for Wisconsin teams this season.

In the second game,Gabe Henriques went 3-for-5 while  Robert Rashid, Eric Bohling, Tanner DeBettencourt and Michael Baldino had two hits each.

Trinity 23 Cardinal Stritch 3
It was an ugly day for the Wolves as they fell huge to Trinity 23-3.

Leading the way offensively were Sterling Smith, Mike Ploch and and Deano Mlachnik with two hits in the game. Paul Blair had a home run and an RBI for the Wolves in the losing effort.
